Two types of essay test

I aim to post something on this in the next few days – possibly Monday. In the meantime, can I suggest that there is no one way to answer each question type ie an opinion essay is ABBA , a discursive essay ABCA and so on. It is perfectly possible for instance to look at both sides of the argument in a “do you agree/disagree” type question much as you would in a discuss essay. It all depends on what you as a an individual think about that question. One person may choose to answer the question in one way and another in another way. The examiner does not sit down and say “This is an opinion essay and it must be structured like this”- rather they look at whether you have answered the question as it is asked.

ACCUPLACER ® is an adaptive test. This means that the questions are chosen for you on the basis of your answers to previous questions. This technique selects just the right questions for your ability level. Because the test works this way, you must answer every question when it is first given. Each test is untimed so that you can give each question as much thought as you wish. You can change your answer to a particular question before moving on to the next question, but you cannot leave a question out or come back to it later to change your answer. If you do not know the answer to a question, try to eliminate one or more of the choices. Then pick from the remaining choices.
